From Custom Quotes to Scalable Operations: Delta Millworks' CPQ and ERP Transformation

A premium wood products manufacturer was quoting complex custom orders in spreadsheets and running operations without an ERP. Cloud Nerd implemented Salesforce CPQ, led a NetSuite gap analysis, and delivered a full NetSuite implementation — closing the quote-to-cash gap.

CPQ + NetSuite gap analysis + ERP implementation

10+

Configurable product bundles built in CPQ

3+

Channel-specific price books with discount enforcement

Automated

Professional PDF quote generation from CPQ

The challenge

Delta Millworks' product catalog is inherently complex — hundreds of wood species, dimensions, treatments, and finish combinations, each with channel-specific pricing and volume discounts. Sales reps navigated this entirely through institutional knowledge and spreadsheets. A single quote took hours to build and errors were common. There was no ERP to connect approved quotes to production or inventory.

The approach

Cloud Nerd implemented Salesforce CPQ with configurable product bundles, channel-specific price books, discount schedule enforcement, and professional branded PDF quote generation. Following CPQ go-live, Cloud Nerd conducted a structured NetSuite gap analysis and was awarded the full NetSuite ERP implementation — creating a connected quote-to-production-to-invoice workflow for the first time.

The outcome

Delta Millworks sales reps now configure complex wood product quotes in Salesforce CPQ with built-in guardrails: required configurations are enforced, channel pricing applied automatically, and professional PDF quotes generated instantly. Approved quotes flow into NetSuite for production planning and inventory allocation — no manual re-entry.

The problem

What was actually broken

01

Manual quoting in spreadsheets — no product configuration guardrails

Reps assembled quotes by hand, calculating pricing and configurations from memory. With hundreds of product variables and channel-specific pricing, errors were frequent and margin risk was real.

02

No connection between quotes and production

Once a quote became an order, there was no automated path to production planning or inventory. Operations teams re-entered every order manually into separate systems.

03

No ERP capable of handling custom product complexity

Delta's custom product catalog required an ERP that could support configurable items, multi-location inventory, and custom manufacturing workflows — none of which their prior tools could handle.

    NetSuite ERP Gap Analysis

Cloud Nerd conducted a structured gap analysis — reviewing Delta's production, inventory, and finance workflows; mapping them to NetSuite's native capabilities; and producing a detailed implementation recommendation with full phasing and scope.

    • Current-state workflow documentation (production, inventory, finance)
    • NetSuite native capability mapping vs. Delta Millworks requirements
    • Gap analysis report with configuration requirements identified
    • Implementation scope and phasing recommendation delivered
