Wealth Management Meets Private Equity: Legacy Knight's Unified Salesforce Platform

A Dallas-based multi-family office managing both wealth management and private equity commitments needed one CRM that could handle the complexity of both. Cloud Nerd implemented Salesforce FSC with both navigation apps active — and kept expanding through four change orders.

The challenge

Legacy Knight occupies an unusual position — they serve high-net-worth families with traditional wealth management while managing private equity fund commitments from those same households. Practifi could support one model but not both. Fund objects, commitment tracking, and participant management were workarounds. The Web-to-Lead pipeline was disconnected. Marketing automation was on the roadmap but unconnected.

The approach

Cloud Nerd configured both Salesforce FSC navigation applications — the Wealth Management app for Household, Client, Financial Account, and Asset objects, and the Private Equity app for Fund, Fund Commitment, Fund Participant, and Fund Allocation objects. Sales Cloud and Service Cloud were configured alongside. Web-to-Lead from legacyknight.com was integrated. All 10 Practifi data tables were migrated. Post-launch change orders added Pardot, household relationship automation, and email roll-up features.

The outcome

Legacy Knight advisors now see a client's wealth management relationship and fund commitments in one Salesforce record — with all related participants, allocations, and milestones tracked in the same platform. Commitment inquiries from the website flow directly into Salesforce. Pardot marketing automation is connected to the FSC database.

The problem

What was actually broken

01

One firm, two business models, one inadequate CRM

Practifi could model wealth management households reasonably well, but Fund Commitment, Fund Participant, and Fund Allocation objects were entirely absent — leaving private equity tracking in spreadsheets.

02

Website lead capture disconnected from CRM

Commitment inquiries from legacyknight.com/commitments/ arrived via email with no automated routing, no CRM record creation, and no assignment to the correct advisor.

03

Marketing completely disconnected from advisor data

Pardot marketing automation was on the roadmap but had no Salesforce org to connect to — campaigns and prospect activity existed in complete isolation from the client database.

Four post-launch change orders expanded the platform: Pardot connected to FSC, household relationship automation built for Contact-to-Contact and Account-to-Contact records, and an email roll-up feature surfacing communications at the household level.

    • Pardot connected to Salesforce FSC with user sync and field mapping
    • Household relationship automation (Contact-to-Contact, Account-to-Contact)
